Leonie Mae Padgett Royal, 89, of North Charleston, SC widow of Marion Albert Royal died Tuesday, February 14, 2012 at her home.
Born May 18, 1922 in Ashton, South Carolina Mrs. Royal was the daughter of the late Frank and Nannie Padgett of Earhardt, SC.
Leonie was a retired nurse from Roper Hospital and a stead-fast member and Sunday School teacher at Midland Park Baptist Church.
She lived a blessed life and touched the hearts of her family, friends and strangers with a loving and patient Christian example of a living angel.
Surviving Mrs. Royal are her two sons, Clyde Royal of Charleston, Marion Royal of Dumfries, VA; three daughters, Betty Hartkopf of Edgefield, SC, Sadie (Dee) Medlin of James Island and Pamela Lee of Simpsonville, SC; 12 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and 22 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Sherry, five sisters and four brothers.
The family would be pleased to receive friends from 7 pm until 8:30 pm at J. HENRY STUHR, INC. NORTHWOODS CHAPEL, 2180 Greenridge Road, N. Charleston, Thursday, February 16, 2012. The funeral services begin at 12:30 pm Friday, February 17, 2012. A short graveside service will be held at Carter's Ford Baptist Churchyard at 3:30 pm.
The family requests that memorial donations be sent to Carter's Ford Baptist Church in care of the Cemetery Fund at 6507 Lodge Highway, Lodge, SC 29082.
