Burial will follow in the Metts Family Cemetery, 191 Clarence Road, Branchville, SC 29432. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. West Ashley Chapel.

Keith was born August 19, 1963 in Charleston, SC, son of the late Leonard Keith Metts Sr., and Phyllis Mohrmann. Keith was an old soul and an avid fisherman. He always lived in the present, he never held on to past grievances and didn’t look too far into the future. If he loved you, you knew it. He always told those in his life that he loved them with a hug, it came easily to Keith, and he would say it every time he spoke with you. He was not only a partner to Debbie, but her confidant and greatest support, his positive attitude and unwavering love made every day easier and every challenge more bearable. By far, the thing Keith and Debbie were most proud of was their son and his family. It was often said that Trey hit the jackpot when they were passing out fathers. Keith’s fondest memories were joining Trey in whatever he was interested in during each stage of his life; most notably, fishing, playing guitar, paintball, football, playing chess or just hanging out at the river on the weekends. His love for his family only grew when they were blessed with grandchildren, there was always a vacancy at “Hotel Metts”.

Along with his wife of 41 years, he is survived by his beloved son, Leonard Keith Metts, III “Trey” (Megan), two cherished grandchildren, Leonard Keith Metts, IV “Drew” and Brinley Metts; his mother Phyllis Mohrmann; his sister, Kim (Tom) McCants; mother-in-law Carol Sayer; brother-in-law Ron (Kathryn) Sayer; sister-in-law Cindy (Zack) Murray; cousin and best friend Kevin (Patti) Kaufman; he is also survived by several loving nieces, nephews and cousins.

Keith was preceded in death by his father Leonard Keith Metts, Sr.; father-in-law Doug Sayer; brother-in-law Reverend Robert J. Sayer; grandparents; aunt Gerry Dove and many aunts and uncles.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the many nurses at MUSC who lovingly cared for Keith during the last three months of his life; 10 West, 7B and 4 Center (surgical observation unit). As well as Hospital Advanced Practice Providers Lauren Ford, Bethany Zanetti and Dr. Bhushan of Palliative Care.
