Leonard Paul Goldman, 79, of Blair, South Carolina, husband of Janice Quarterman Goldman, passed on the morning of April 9, 2026. His graveside service will be held at 11:00am on Monday, April 13, 2026, at Live Oak Memorial Gardens, 3093 Ashley River Rd, Charleston, SC 29414. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., West Ashley Chapel.
He was born in Charleston, SC to Max “Red” and Clara (Schwartz) Goldman, was the devoted husband of Janice Q. Goldman and a strong role model to his nephews and nieces. He loved kayaking, fishing and working on old cars. He was a former member of the British Car Club of Charleston. His two Dogo Argentinos were his four-legged children. He will be missed by family, friends, and neighbors.
He graduated from Murray Vocational School and served honorably in the United States Air Force from April 19, 1966 until March 06, 1972 with a rank of Staff Sergeant. He was a proud Vietnam war veteran serving in country from 1969 to 1971. Following military service, he graduated from Trident Technical College and began his career as a mechanic at Carolina Auto Electric. He was a civilian employee of the Charleston Naval Shipyard from July 1978 until March 2008, with his last position at SPAWAR Systems Center Atlantic in Charleston, SC until his retirement to Lake Monticello, SC.
Preceded in death by his parents, his brother Eugene Goldman and his sister, Irene Goldman Taradash. He is survived by his wife Jan, his sisters-in-law Anne Q. Patrick, Lynn Q. (Jim) Waldrop, Virginia Q. “Jinks” (Gene) Patrick, and Lucy Behar Goldman. His nieces and nephews that he loved dearly, Doreen (Dave) Frederick, Bob Taradash (Kerrie Golden), Greg (Julie) Taradash, Courtney Patrick, Daniel Patrick (Caitlin), Madison Beard (Cameron), David Waldrop (Cierra), Rachel Patrick, Megan Patrick, Ashley Jur (Austin), and his many grand nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to acknowledge their appreciation for the love and support given by the nurses and caregivers of Bernardo Hospice Care.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Tunnel to Towers Foundation, the Wounded Warrior Project, or your local animal shelter.
