Columbia, SC - Leonard J. Farrell, 80, formerly of Woonsocket, RI; North Smithfield, RI; and Mt. Pleasant, SC, entered into eternal peace on July 12, 2011 in Columbia, SC with his loving wife Pauline Guilbert Farrell and family by his side. Leonard Farrell was born in Pawtucket, RI on January, 14, 1931, to the late Leonard and Marie Anna (Lem�e) Farrell. He was employed by Provost Lefebvre Company for 48 years and was transferred in 1978 from Boston to Santee River, SC, where he served as Vice-President until his retirement. He also served as a member of the Air Force 102 ACW Squadron in Tripoli, Lybia during the Korean War. Leonard Farrell was a graduate of Woonsocket High School, Bryant College and Northeastern University. While in high school, he played trumpet in the band. He also worked as the "Planters Peanut Man" in Woonsocket, RI. He was a lifelong volunteer serving as a member of the Woonsocket Junior Chamber of Commerce, the first Mardi Gras Committee, Troop #2 Scoutmaster, and worked for many years at the annual carnival. He served as Commodore of the Alexander Lake Yacht Club in Dayville, CT and was a member of Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Parish and the Charleston, SC Elks Lodge No. 242. He enjoyed many hobbies and interests. He was a lifelong model train enthusiast and enjoyed big band music and ballroom dancing. He was very proud of his Irish heritage. He is survived by his six children: Susan Farrell Czyzewicz (John), Maureen Farrell Brassard (Craig), Paula Farrell Laney (Michael), and Patricia Farrell, all of North Smithfield, RI; Christine Farrell Vallee (Dennis) of Harrisville, RI; John Farrell of Brunswick, GA; and former wife Jeannine Farrell. He is also survived by his loving and devoted wife Pauline Farrell and leaves behind four step-children: Linda Guilbert Lancaster of Mt. Pleasant, SC, Roger Guilbert of Elgin, SC, David Guilbert (Ashley) of Charleston, SC, and Michael Guilbert of Woonsocket, RI; and seven grandchildren: Justin and Adam Czyzewicz, Farrell Laney, Johnathan Farrell, Erica Lancaster, and Katelyn and Samantha Guilbert. The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 21st from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at J. HENRY STUHR MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL, 1494 Mathis Ferry Road, Mount Pleasant, SC. A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 22nd at 10:00 a.m. at Stuhr's Mount Pleasant Chapel, 1494 Mathis Ferry Road, Mount Pleasant, SC.
