Msgt. Leo Joyce Moody (USMC, Ret.), 83, husband of Martha Richards Moody of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina died Thursday, September 13, 2012. The relatives and friends of Leo Moody are invited to attend his Funeral Service on Monday, September 17, 2012 in J. HENRY STUHR INC., MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL at 10:00 am. Burial will be in Beaufort National Cemetery at 2:00 pm with full military honors. The family will receive friends in the Mount Pleasant Chapel on Sunday, September 16, 2012 from 6:00 until 8:00 pm.
Leo was born December 3, 1928 in Dillon, South Carolina, son of Floyd Herman and Emma Powell Moody. He was retired from the United States Marine Corps after 30 years, during which he was awarded the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star. Leo was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Mt. Pleasant Ward. Leo was a member of the Masonic Lodge and Shriners in North Carolina and the Eastern Star in Ridgeville, South Carolina.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Martha Moody of Mount Pleasant, SC; son, Kenneth (Ruann) Moody of Coppell, TX, daughter, Lisa Fowler of Mt Pleasant, SC, son, Robert (Jean) Moody of Mt Pleasant, SC; ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was loved by all who had the privilege of knowing him, especially his friends in Jacksonville, NC.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Shriners Hospital for Children, 950 W. Faris Road, Greenville, SC 29605-4277 or the Wounded Warrior Project, 4899 Belfort Road, Suite 300, Jacksonville, FL 32256..
