Leigh Brumley Smith

August 28, 1966 — September 25, 2017

Leigh Brumley Smith, 51, of Charleston, SC, wife of David Van Noy Smith, Jr. entered into eternal rest surrounded by her family on Monday, September 25th. Her funeral and interment will be a private family service at the Brumley Family Cemetery on Wadmalaw Island, SC. The family will receive friends at 2407 I'On Avenue, Sullivan's Island, SC at 4:00pm on Wednesday, September 27th.

Leigh was born on August 28, 1966 in St. Mary's, Georgia, the daughter of Frank Warner and Blanche Crawford Cauthen Brumley. She attended Trident Academy in Mt. Pleasant, Brenau College in Gainesville, GA and was a member of First (Scots) Presbyterian Church. Leigh was a wonderful and caring mother, wife, daughter, daughter-in-law, sister, aunt and friend. More than anything else, Leigh enjoyed her family, spending time with them and keeping them straight. She often advocated for and planned the gatherings whether on Sullivan's Island, Wadmalaw, Rockville, Nantucket, her home on Ellis Creek or wherever she could get the family together.

Leigh is survived by her husband Van, daughter Crawford, sons Van Noy and Brumley, father and mother Frank Warner and Blanche Crawford Cauthen Brumley all of Charleston, SC, father and mother-in-law D. Van and Ann Ellis Smith of Wadmalaw Island, SC, sisters Jane Brumley Hamann (John) of Tampa, FL, Katherine Blanche Brumley Kronzer (Chris) of Charlotte, NC, Marie Brumley Foster (Brad) and Nancy Brumley Robitaille (Dan) of Atlanta, GA, Aunt Martha Brumley Ellis (Lamar) of Sea Island, GA, sisters-in-law Elise Smith Brown (David) and Ann S.E. Smith of Charleston, SC, nieces & nephews Blanche, Hayes and Ben Kronzer of Charlotte, NC, Davis and Anna Kate Hamann of Tampa, FL, Nicholas, Drayton and Ben Foster of Atlanta, GA, Paul and Harrison Hackett, Alex Robitaille of Atlanta, GA, Elise Seabrook and Harriet Brown, Ann Swinton, Hamilton and Burdell Fitzgerald of Charleston, SC.
