Entered into eternal rest on the morning of June 9, 2012, Lee Belle Stanley Murray, widow of Edward Lafayette Murray. Residence, Charleston, SC. The relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral services in Bethel United Methodist Church Wednesday, June 13, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. Interment, Live Oak Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at J. HENRY STUHR, INC., DOWNTOWN CHAPEL Tuesday between 5:00 and 7:00 p.m.
Mrs. Murray was born May 24, 1923 in Loris, South Carolina, a daughter of the late John Parker Stanley and the late Nettie Butler Stanley. She was a graduate of Spartanburg Methodist College and received her bachelor's degree from Charleston Southern University, was a retired teacher at St. Andrews Elementary School, a member of Bethel United Methodist Church and an associate member of The French Huguenot Church. Mrs. Murray loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She loved beauty, poetry, church, her family and visiting and doing for others. She was a member of the Charleston County Republican Women's Club and The Charleston Symphany Orchestra League.
She is survived by a daughter, Ellen Leigh Murray of Charleston; a son, Edward L. Murray, Jr. and his wife, Barbara, of Charleston; a twin sister, Estelle Virginia Stanley of Loris, SC; and three grandchildren, Charlotte Nina Lee Belle Murray, Trevor E. Murray and Penelope J. Murray.
