Leatrice was born January 5, 1931, in St. Louis, MO, daughter of Abe Fine and Tillie Fine. She graduated Washington University in St. Louis, MO, with a degree in Occupational Therapy. Having headed the Occupational Therapy Department at Furman-Delouge Hospital, she served here as an Occupational Therapist at Easter Seal Society in Georgetown, SC and in Charleston, SC, and Home Health for Berkeley and Dorchester Counties. She was a life member of B.S.B.I. Sisterhood and Hadassah and a member of Brith Sholom Beth Israel Synagogue and the Jewish Community Center. She avidly supported the Arts, including Charleston Concert Association, The Charleston Stage Company, The Charleston Symphony Orchestra, and the Footlight Players.
She is survived by her husband, Bill Novit of Charleston, SC, two daughters, Adrian Novit of Charleston, SC and Heidi N. Presser of Monsey, NY; her son, David Novit of Charleston, SC, three grandchildren, and a sister, Beatrice F. Borenstein of St. Louis. Leatrice is predeceased by a son, Philip Novit.
Visiting hours(Shiva) at their residence, 18 Tarleton Drive, Charleston, SC 29407 are 1:00 until 4:00 p.m. on Friday and Sunday through Tuesday from 1:00 until 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 until 8:30 p.m.
