CMSgt. Lawrence (Larry) Richard Vogel USAF (Ret), 76, of North Charleston, South Carolina, passed away on Wednesday, February 27, 2013 at Summerville Medical Center. Lawrence was a man of honor who considered his greatest accomplishment his service to his country. He loved his family and took them on many grand adventures around the country and around the world during his military service.He was born January 27, 1937 in Williamsport, PA, son of the late Lawrence George and Dorothy Snyder Vogel. Lawrence served his country in the United States Air Force in a variety of duties, living in numerous stateside and overseas locations from January 1955 to retirement as CMSgt. in 1984. He was appointed by the Charleston County Council to Director of Internal Audit in 1984 and served in that role until he retired in 1997. From 1998 to 2001, Lawrence served on the Board of Directors for Heritage Trust Federal Credit Union.Lawrence is survived by his wife of 54 years, Nona Virginia Vogel of the home; daughters, Debra Vogel Auman (Keith), and Dona Vogel Salmon (Ashley); sons, Steven Richard Vogel (Beth) and Thomas Mark Vogel; grandchildren, Ashley and Andrew Auman, Stephanie and Eric Vogel; sister, Valinda Vogel Kilroy; special sister-in-law, Ann Hollis; special brother-in-law, Sam Butler; and a host of other relatives and friends.A celebration of life will be held Sunday, March 3, 2013 at 2:00 pm in the J. HENRY STUHR, INC. WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway. Burial will be private. Family will receive relatives and friends Saturday, March 2, 2013 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm in the J.
