Lawrence "Larry" Manning Ridgeway, Jr., 79, of Charleston, South Carolina, husband of Sandra Allen Ridgeway entered into eternal rest Monday, July 24, 2017. His Funeral Service will be held Monday, July 31, 2017 in the Church of the Nativity Catholic Church, 1061 Folly Road at 11:00 a.m. The family will receive friends Sunday, July 30, 2017 in J. HENRY STUHR INC., WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Larry was born March 14, 1938 in Charleston, SC, son of the late Lawrence Manning Ridgeway and Ruth Rans Ridgeway. He served in the U.S. Army as a linguistics specialist for signals intelligence. Larry's life work was being a devoted husband and father and founder of American Spool and Packaging, Inc (AMSPAK) which continues today as a thriving third generation family business. He was an avid tennis player and member at Maybank Tennis Center. Larry was a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church of Mt. Pleasant.
He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Sandra Ridgeway of Charleston, SC; two daughters, Lynn Ridgeway Curry (Ben) of Charleston, SC, Tifini Ridgeway Stafford (Alex) of Florence, SC; son, Lawrence "Trey" Manning Ridgeway, III., (Brooke) of Florence, SC; adopted niece, Kelly Clements of Mt. Pleasant, SC; sister, Beverly R. Sweatman of IL; two stepsons, Chad Swiler, and Mika Swiler (Kristin); step-daughter, Andrea Templeton of Charleston, SC; eight grandchildren, Elliott, Matt, Lucas, Shay, Ryan, Carsyn, Lillian, Lydia; two great-grandchildren, Charlotte and Finn.
