Lavinia Clark Mcelveen

Lavinia Clark McElveen, 90, beloved wife of the late Joseph Y. McElveen, Jr. of James Island, went to be with the Lord on Thursday evening, August 11, 2011 at Greenville Memorial Hospital .  She was one of seven children and the youngest daughter of the late Julian Hinson Clark and Mary Hood Clark of James Island.  She was a life long member of James Island Presbyterian Church.

Surviving are a son, Joseph Y. McElveen, III and his wife, Jennie, of Mauldin, SC and a daughter, Elizabeth M. Johnson and her husband, Fletcher, of Bluffton, SC, four grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and one sister-in-law.  

The funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon, August 16^th, at 2:00 p.m., in the sanctuary of James Island Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Dr. Earl Bland officiating.  The family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall immediately following the service and burial.  Burial will be next to her husband in the church cemetery.
