Laurie Lee Hiott, "Cutsie", of Charleston, SC, husband of Hazel Marian Jennings Hiott, entered into eternal rest at the age of 90, on Tuesday, January 30, 2024. His Funeral Service will be held, Wednesday, February 7, 2024, in the J. Henry Stuhr Inc., West Ashley Chapel, at 10:00 am. Prayers and farewell will immediately follow in the Live Oak Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. West Ashley Chapel, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway.
Laurie was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, affectionately known as Popa.
Laurie was born February 15, 1933 in Younges Island, SC, the son of the late Arthur Lee Hiott and the late Ada Baldwin Hiott; father of the late Sharon Hiott Cleland; grandfather of the late Mark Daniel Owens; and brother of the late Richard Hiott (Delene).
Laurie is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Hazel Jennings Hiott, of Charleston, SC; his daughter, Tanya Read (Emerson) of Charleston, SC; his grandchildren, Sarah Niforos (Zachary), of Groton, CT, Marian Rowland (Kevin), of Hanahan, SC, and Emerson Read, III (Emily); his great-grandchildren, Jackson Kaiser, Noah Kaiser, Charlotte Niforos, Olivia Niforos, Madison Rowland, Katelyn Rowland, and Saylor Read; his sisters, Polly Snodgrass (Kenny) and Christi O'Toole (Charlie); his brothers, Tim Hiott (Georgia) and Chuck Hiott (Connie).
Laurie was a Veteran of the United States Army and served in the Korean War. Army honors will be rendered at the cemetery.
