Laurence "Larry" deHay Campbell, 86, of Isle of Palms, South Carolina, husband of Irma Jean Stevenson Campbell passed away on Thursday, July 10, 2014. His Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 pm on Saturday, July 19, 2014 in the Sunrise Presbyterian Church, 3222 Middle Street, Sullivan's Island. Inurnment will be private. The family will greet friends in the Fellowship Hall following the service. Arrangements by J. HENRY STUHR, INC. MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL.
Larry was born July 9, 1928 in Camden, South Carolina, son of the late Laurie Broadus Campbell and Eleanor Todd Campbell. A veteran of the U.S. Navy, he worked in the Federal Bureau of Investigation, was a supervisor with State Farm Insurance, and was a Realtor on the Isle of Palms, SC. A faithful member and Elder of Sunrise Presbyterian Church, one of his great joys was assisting the pastor in distributing communion to those who were unable to get to church. Larry was a member of the IOP Exchange Club as well as his coffee club where he shared a great cup of coffee with friends at Page's Okra Grill. He enjoyed fishing, but most of all, spending time with his children. He approached everything in life with a sense of humor and compassion.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Jean Campbell of Isle of Palms, SC; his daughter, Janice Lipka of Matthews, NC; his grandson, Eric Lipka of Matthews, NC; and his son, Scot Campbell of Charlotte, NC.
