Laurel McDaniel Matthews

 Laurel McDaniel Matthews, 89, passed away on the morning of October 5, 2011at a local Healthcare Facility. Residence, North Charleston, SC.

The relatives and friends of Laurel Matthews are invited to attend her funeral service on Saturday, October 8, 2011 in J. HENRY STUHR, INC., NORTH AREA CHAPEL, 2119 Dorchester Road, North Charleston at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at J. Henry Stuhr North Area Chapel, Friday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.

 Born May 10, 1922 in Lake City, South Carolina, daughter of the late John and Arbell McDaniel. Laurel was an active member of Doorway Baptist Church. Her favorite pastimes were gardening and reading.

She is survived by her daughter, Joyce M. Spigner and her husband, Buddy of North Charleston, SC; sons, Harry C. Matthews, Jr. and his wife Delores of Beaufort, SC, and Robert L. Matthews of Charleston, SC; grandsons, Brent, Clay and his wife Shawn, Trey and his wife Amy and Travis; two granddaughters, Jessica and Tika and ten great-grandchildren. Mrs. Matthews was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Harry C. Matthews, Sr., and daughter, Brenda McAlhany.

Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the Doorway Baptist Church, 7825 Dorchester Road, North Charleston, SC 29418.
