With deep love and sorrow, we announce the passing of Laurel Lambrecht, who died peacefully on June 21, 2025, at her home in Charleston, South Carolina. She was 47.
Born in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, and graduate of Goodrich High School and UW-Wisconsin Madison, Laurel brought warmth, kindness, and curiosity to all corners of her life. After graduating from UW-Madison, Laurel moved to Chicago and became a “city girl”. She eventually escaped the Chicago winters and made Charleston, SC her home, where she continued a life filled with joy, compassion, and quiet adventure.
Laurel shared a deep and loving partnership with her husband, Keith Ward, with whom she explored life hand in hand. Whether traveling together, walking on the beach, bike riding, or relaxing at home with their beloved dogs, their bond was one of deep affection and mutual support.
A devoted animal lover, Laurel’s dogs were her constant companions and family. Her days and theirs were brightened by each other’s presence, and her care for them reflected her gentle and giving nature. She loved walking them, doing agility, and discovering new places.
Laurel’s curiosity for life could be seen in her diverse hobbies, which included taking classes about Charleston’s architecture and ports, sewing, crochet, and learning to play the banjo. Laurel will be remembered for her calm strength, generous spirit, and the quiet joy she brought into the lives of others.
Laurel is survived by her husband, Keith; her sister, Kate Kubit (Ted Kubit); and her adoring niece and nephew, Abby and Ben Kubit.
A celebration of her life will be held in Charleston at a future date, with details to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to The Marfan Foundation, a cause central to Laurel’s life: https://marfan.org
Laurel’s memory lives on in the hearts of her family, friends, and all who were touched by her presence. Her spirit remains with us in every walk, every journey, and every moment shared with love.
