Lauralea Berns

Lauralea Berns, 79, of Hanahan, SC, formerly of Indianapolis, IN, entered into eternal rest Thursday, July 5, 2018. Her funeral service will be held Sunday, July 8, 2018 in the Messiah Lutheran Church, 1106 Yeamans Hall Road at 3:00 pm. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Sunday one hour prior to the service in the Messiah Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., Northwoods Chapel.

Lauralea was born September 27, 1938 in Lansing, MI, daughter of the late Dr. Lauren Hiram Brown and the late Doris VanSickle Brown. She was a Michigan State University graduate and a registered nurse. She lived a life of service putting others before herself and she was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church.

She is survived by her husband of 58 years, James E. Berns of Hanahan, SC; three children: Kimberly Morgan of North Charleston, SC, Jamie Berns (Traci) of Indianapolis, IN, Jennifer Childress (Ken) of Hanahan, SC; five grandchildren: Captain Michael E. Berns US Army (Megan) of Savannah, GA, Jake Berns and Jessica Berns both of Indianapolis, IN, Keri Brown (Ryan) of Hanahan, SC, Kelsi Childress of Hanahan, SC (fiancé Gary Brewer); four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Roger Brown (Pamela) of Ames, IA, Tom Brown of Ypsilanti, MI. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Sonny Brown.
