Laura Haws Williams, age 72, passed peacefully on April 30, 2024.
Laura was born in Johnson City, TN on Feb 4, 1952, to Dr. Frank P Haws and the late Barbara Haws Jilton. She was raised in her beloved grandparents’ Jonesborough, TN home. She attended Converse College and graduated with degrees in English and Secondary Education
from East Tennessee State University. After teaching high school for several years, Laura discovered that she enjoyed real estate, selling homes in Greenville County and Daniel Island. Later, she developed a thriving business with Rodan and Fields.
Outside of work, Laura spent time with family and friends, and enriched herself in her numerous hobbies. She was a classically trained pianist, a natural interior designer, and eventually a painter: however, Laura’s pound cakes were her true love language. Laura enjoyed the outdoors, and on most days, she could be found going for a walk with her dog Gracie, tending to her yard and plants, gathering with friends on her patio, or taking in the beauty of a sunny day.Laura was also very involved in her church. She appreciated the rituals of communion-from Sunday mornings at church to conversations around a table.
Laura’s most admirable trait was her ability to make those around her feel special. She never knew a stranger. Everyone was attracted to her vibrant smile and warm personality. Laura loved to visit with everyone and always had a sincere compliment to offer. Even after being diagnosed with primary progressive aphasia in 2023, she lived life to its fullest and continued to make friends even when her words and voice were gone.
Laura was predeceased by her loving husband Robert (Bob) Williams. Her spirit will remain alive in the hearts and memories of her large family including her father Dr. Frank Haws (Patsy) of Huntsville, AL; her children Judith Correll Smith (Kevin) of Awendaw, SC, Sam Correll (Amber) of Prosper, TX, and Caroline Correll Gebhardt (Nick) of Atlanta, GA; her stepchildren Andrea Williams Bragg (Ray) of Hilton Head, SC and Scott Williams (Sally) of Franklin, TN; her grandchildren Ellie, Harrison, and Anna Smith, Jackson and Lilly Correll, Cole, Leo, and Beau Gebhardt, Abbey Olliff (Ben), Julia Bragg, and Anna Williams; her siblings Frank Haws (Judy) of Hilton Head, SC, Angie Poole of Lexington, KY, Ashley Guyton (John) of Tampa, FL, Meredith Balasco (Greg) of Tampa FL, Lyle Haws of Buena Vista, CO, Ned "Nod" Jilton of Gray, TN; her beloved cousin-brother Dr. Robert Hash (Laura) of Huntsville, AL, her Aunt Judy Hash of Kingsport, TN and several nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff who became family at Wellmore of Daniel Island and to Melody and the Crescent Hospice team and to Laura’s loving and devoted friends.
