Mrs. Laura Garris, 95, widow of Royce Garris of 4816 Boulevard Lane, North Charleston entered into eternal rest on Thursday, May 19 at her residence after a brief illness.
Funeral services, directed by J. HENRY STUHR, INC., NORTHWOODS CHAPEL, will be held 3:30 pm, Sunday, May 22 at Portside Baptist Church with Pastor Michael Giles officiating. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park.
Friends may call at her residence and attend visitation on Saturday, May 21, 2011, from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Stuhr's Northwoods Chapel, 2180 Greenridge Road.
Mrs. Garris was born in Grover, SC on November 12, 1915 daughter of LuLu Viola Hutto Murray and Richmond Nollie Murray. She was a charter member of Portside Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by sisters, Edith Bell and Blanche Elam; two brothers, Hoyt Murray, Lewis "Son" Murray and daughter Deneile Ward. Mrs. Garris is survived by sons, Elton Garris (friend Marilyn) of Grover and Richie Garris (friend Pam) of North Charleston; grandson, Ashley O'Neal (Amanda); great-grandchildren, Hunter and Dylan Wanamaker and Peyton O'Neal of Goose Creek. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the St. Matthews Baptist Church, 2593 Wire Road, St. George, SC 29477-6523.
