Laura Reigle Thursby DeVita, 78, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, wife of Roland Charles DeVita died Tuesday, November 14, 2017. Her Funeral Mass will be held Monday, November 20, 2017 in Stella Maris Roman Catholic Church, 1204 Middle Street at 11:00 am. Burial will follow in Mount Pleasant Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends in J. HENRY STUHR, INC., MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL on Sunday, November 19, 2017 from 5:00 until 7:00 pm. The Rosary will be recited at 7:00 PM.
Laura was born April 23, 1939 in Wilmington, Delaware, daughter of the late William Henry Thursby and the late Laura Reigle Thursby. She was a homemaker and loved to spend time with her family. Laura was a member of Stella Maris Roman Catholic Church and a very active member of the Exchange Club.
She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Roland C. DeVita of Mt. Pleasant, SC; two daughters, Kathy Crossan of Dayton, OH and Lori McAvaney of Wilmington, DE; three step-daughters, Pamela Wasserman (Gene) of NJ, Diane Scardino (David) of Melborn, FL, and Mary DeVita of Boca Raton, FL; two step-sons, Mark DeVita (Elizabeth) of Independence, PA and John DeVita (Diane) of Dupont, WA; eleven grandchildren; three great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son Edwin Michael Carter and a daughter, Karen Schnee.
