Larry Frank Franklin, 76, of North Charleston, SC, died Tuesday, December 23, 2014. His funeral service will be held Tuesday, December 30, 2014 in the J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., Northwoods Chapel, 2180 Greenridge Road at 11:00 am. Interment with military honors will follow in Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Monday, December 29, 2014, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm in Stuhr's Northwoods Chapel.
Larry was born November 30, 1938 in Union, SC, son of the late John Pershing Franklin and the late Lillian Gault Franklin. He was an Air Force veteran and member of VFW. Larry was a member of Hammerton Masonic Lodge, a 32 degree Mason, an honorary life member of Millennium Lodge 2000, a member of the Kentucky Colonels, Omar Shriners, and Scottish Rite. He worked at Westvaco, Port City Steel Erectors, both Crosby and Parker Construction Companies and Seto. Larry was Vice President of BFO and retired from College of Charleston as an Engineering Associate and the Deputy Director of the Physical Plant. He also worked part-time at S & D Coffee. He was a member of North Charleston United Methodist Church and enjoyed fishing.
He is survived by his son, Larry Scott Franklin (Mandy) of Ladson, SC; daughter, Dawn Michele Kinard (Joseph Pascoe) of Goose Creek, SC; nine grandchildren, Mercedes, Alec, Joshua, Edwin, Cody, McKala, Kyle, MJ, Tanner; four sisters: Jimmie Franklin Benton (Perry) of North Charleston, SC, Janice Franklin Ward of Aiken, SC, Sharyn Dianne Franklin of N. Augusta, SC, Sue Carolyn Franklin of Longview, TX. He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Hiers Franklin.
