Larry Neal Black, 80, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, husband of Judy Nadol Black passed away on Tuesday, January 29, 2013. A Funeral Service will be held Friday, February 1, 2013 in the First Baptist Church of Mt. Pleasant, 681 McCants Drive at 2:00 pm. Interment will follow in Mt. Pleasant Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by J. HENRY STUHR INC. MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL.
Mr. Black was born August 7, 1932 in Barnwell, South Carolina and was raised on Sullivans Island, son of the late John and Creo Braxton Black. He was a graduate of Moutrie High School and MUSC School of Pharmacy. He was a well known retail Pharmacist for Pitt Street Drug Store, Berkeley Drugs, Eckerd Drugs, MUSC, and retired from the Meeting Street Piggly Wiggly. An active member of First Baptist Church of Mt. Pleasant, Mr. Black served as a Deacon, taught Sunday School, and was a member of the choir. He was active in many bowling leagues and loved to fish for sheepshead at the jetties with his friends, John Thomson and Mike Ramsey. He was a veteran of the US Navy.
He is survived by his wife, Judy Black of Mount Pleasant, SC; his children, Laura Black and her husband, Ray Morris of Summerville, SC, Neal Black and his wife, Traci of Charleston, SC, MaryEllen Black Williams and her husband, Therrell of Mt. Pleasant, SC; and his grandchildren, Logan Williams and Baylor Williams, both of Mt. Pleasant, SC, Parker Black of Charleston, SC, Chris Morris and Cody Morris and Courtney Morris, all of Summerville, SC. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Anne Black.
