Lana grew up on her family's farm in Conway and learned to play the piano with her father's encouragement. She started performing in local churches, then went on to graduate from Newberry College. She married and relocated to Charleston, SC, where she became a member of The First Assembly of God, and also served as the pianist for Highland Park Baptist Church.
