Kurt Woodrow Penninger, 51, of Awendaw, South Carolina, husband of Julia Muckelvaney Penninger passed away on Wednesday, May 14, 2014. A Celebration of Kurt's Life will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, May 17, 2014, at the Ocean Grove United Methodist Church, 6517 Highway 17 N. Interment will follow in Wilson Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm in J. HENRY STUHR, INC. MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL, 1494 Mathis Ferry Road.

Kurt was born November 13, 1962 in Charleston, South Carolina, son of Mary Thames Penninger Rancourt and the late Burl Gene Penninger. He was Co-Founder of the See Wee Restaurant in Awendaw, where he served as Manager. He loved his chickens, jewelry, and had worked at Loy Harn Jewelers. Kurt loved gardening, and had operated a lawn maintenance service. A member of Ocean Grove United Methodist Church, he will be deeply missed by all those who had the joy of knowing him.

He is survived by his wife of 17 years, Julia M. Penninger; his children, Kendall Marie Penninger and Jaxson Lee Penninger of Awendaw, SC; his brother, Tim Penninger and his wife, Stephanie of Awendaw, SC; and his loving aunts, cousins, and many friends. He was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Kendall Penninger.
