Klyde Robinson

March 13, 1922 — March 24, 2014

Klyde Robinson, 92, of Charleston, South Carolina, husband of Claire Zuckernik Robinson, entered into eternal rest Monday, March 24, 2014. His Graveside Service will be held Wednesday, March 26, 2014, at Brith Shalom Beth Israel Cemetery, "Maryville," Sycamore Avenue, at 10:00 a.m. Arrangements by J. HENRY STUHR, INC. DOWNTOWN CHAPEL.



Klyde was born on March 13, 1922, in Charleston, South Carolina, the son of Mitchel Robinson and Eva Dora Karesh Robinson. A World War II veteran, Klyde served in the U. S. Army and was awarded five campaign battle stars. After the war, he graduated from the Citadel and earned his law degree from Harvard Law School.

Judge Robinson's first love was the law. He served the state of South Carolina and the city and county of Charleston in many professional positions, including South Carolina Circuit Court Judge, U.S. Attorney for South Carolina, Attorney for Charleston County, Vice President of the South Carolina Bar Association, member of the U.S. 4th Circuit Court of Appeals Judicial Conference, and special master for the South Carolina Supreme Court.

Klyde was admitted to practice law before the U.S. Supreme Court, 4th Circuit Court of Appeals, U.S. District Court, U.S. Tax Court, U.S. Court of Military Justice, and the South Carolina Supreme Court. He also loved Charleston. Throughout his career, he served in many leadership roles. He was the founder and moderator of the Citadel's Development Foundation Humanities Seminar, President of the Jewish Community Center and the SC Jewish Historical Society, Chief Bencher for the Citadel Inn of Court, Vice Chairman of the Charleston County Democratic Party, Vice Chairman of the Simons Guild of the College of Charleston, and was on the Board of Directors for the SC Heart Association, Crisis Ministry, Charleston Symphony Orchestra, Brith Shalom and Beth Elohim congregations, and many other fraternal and civic organizations.

Klyde is survived by his wife of 64 years, Claire Robinson; two daughters: Amy Beth Robinson, (Edward Gold) of Charleston, SC, and Eve D. Robinson (John Hambor) of Madison, CT; four grandchildren: Robinson Gold, (Brendan Carlin), Briana Hambor, Matthew Hambor, and Elizabeth Hambor; and a brother, Melvin A. Robinson, of Charleston, SC.
