Klaus Michalski of North Charleston, SC passed away unexpectedly on February 9, 2026. Born May 21, 1945 in Germany. He enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1966 and was stationed in Germany, Vietnam, Italy, California, Florida, and South Carolina. He loved being in the military and serving his country. After retiring from the military, he held numerous positions in the private sector working for various companies before retiring for good.
He loved spending time in his man cave watching movies, listening to music, and stamp collecting.
He is survived by his half-brothers, Melvin Rhodes of Georgetown, TX and Mikel Rhodes of Daniel Island, SC, and his companion, Ingon Cook of North Charleston, SC; preceded in death by his father Werner Michalski and mother Elisabeth Hartwig Rhodes.
A service celebrating Klaus’ life with military honors will be held at J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. 2180 Greenridge Rd. North Charleston, SC 29406 on Friday, February 20, 2026 at 1pm. Though our hearts are heavy, we find comfort in knowing that Klaus is at peace in the presence of our Lord. “The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want” (Psalm 23:1). May his soul rest in eternal peace.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to organizations such as Disabled American Veterans (DAV), Wounded Warrior Project (WWP), Vietnam Veterans of America (VVA), and Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW).
