Kirby Douglas Yoder

Kirby Douglas Yoder, 87, Charleston, SC passed away at his home May 18, 2024. He was the son of the late Otho B. and Millicent Bitters Yoder born Jul. 16, 1936 in Knoxville, TN. A veteran of the US Navy, he met and a married his bride, Elizabeth Jean Waterman, in Charleston on December. 1, 1956. He retired following a 43 year career with the Aluminum Company of America (ALCOA), serving at the Davenport, IA Works and two years overseas in Shanghai, China as a consultant for the company. He was preceded in death by his parents, his step mother, Phyllis (Pamperien) Yoder; his brother Bradley; and his great-grandaughter, Eliza VandeWalle.

He is survived by, his wife of 67 years; his sons, Ray (Rosemary) of Clinton, IA, Roy (Suzanne) of Davenport, IA, and Ryan (*T.P. and *A.F.), of Davenport, IA; grandchildren, Jeremy (Alicia) Cheek, and Andrew, Carley (Ben), Bailey (Treavor) VandeWalle, Brenna, Aaron, Cameron, and Blake; great grandchildren, Roman VandeWalle, Aurora Cheek and Connor Cheek; brother, Chris (Carroll) of Saugatuck, MI; cousin, Roger (Janice) Yoder of Bexley, OH; sister-in-law, Mary Wrixon; brother-in-law John (Terry) Richardson all of Mt. Pleasant, SC;  and niece, Mary Anna (Dean) Mullinax, Johns Island, SC. 

A private family service will be held Tuesday, June 11, 2024, at Riverview Memorial Park, 3715 Azalea Dr, North Charleston, SC, at 11:00 am. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., West Ashley Chapel.
