Kevin Lee Sutton, born on September 10, 1971, on the US Naval Base in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, passed away peacefully on January 13, 2026. His funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 7th at Mt. Pleasant Presbyterian Church, at 3pm.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Amy Sutton, of Mount Pleasant, SC; his father, Morris Sutton of Daniel Island, SC; his sister Dawn Brown and his brother-in law OH Brown, of Mount Pleasant SC: his mother-in-law Jane Gilbert of Rye, NH; his brother-in-law, Dan Gilbert, of Waxhaw, NC; and his devoted nieces and nephews, Nathan, Katie, Elle, Alessandra (Kyle), and great niece Emerson. Kevin's family was a source of immense pride and joy throughout his life, and he cherished the moments spent with each of them. Kevin was preceded in death by his mother Linda Sutton of Daniel Island, SC and his father-in-law Bruce Gilbert of Rye, NH.
Kevin was a graduate of UNC – Charlotte and was deeply committed to his professional endeavors, proudly serving the Patriots Point Naval and Maritime Museum, and dedicating 25 years to the Men's Basketball Team at the College of Charleston. Beyond his professional pursuits, he was an avid golfer, embracing the sport with enthusiasm and a friendly spirit that embodied his personality. He was also a longtime fan of Duke University basketball and didn’t miss watching a game.
Kevin was a committed member of the Mt. Pleasant Presbyterian Church, where he served as a former deacon. His active involvement highlighted his dedication not only to his faith but also to his community, as he continually sought to uplift those around him.
Raised in Greensboro, NC, Kevin carried the warmth and Southern charm of his upbringing throughout his life. His kindness, humor, and genuine nature resonated with friends and family alike, creating a lasting bond with everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials may be made to USS Yorktown Foundation/Patriots Point Naval and Maritime Museum, 40 Patriots Point Rd., Mount Pleasant, SC 29464/ patriotspoint.org.
