Kevin Carlisle Floyd

October 3, 1953 — February 3, 2018

The Lord welcomed Home Kevin Carlisle Floyd, 64, of Charleston, South Carolina Saturday, February 3, 2018 as he was surrounded by his adoring family after a long and courageous battle against brain cancer. The family will receive friends Tuesday, February 6, 2018 in J. HENRY STUHR INC., WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. His Funeral Service will be held at the Graveside Wednesday, February 7, 2018 in Live Oak Memorial Gardens at 12:00 p.m. followed by a Celebration of Life Service and reception in Grace United Methodist Church, 1601 Sam Rittenberg Boulevard at 1:00 p.m.

Kevin was born October 3, 1953 in Lake City, South Carolina, son of Vera Henderson Floyd and the late James Carlisle Floyd. He was a graduate of Clemson University and the Medical University of South Carolina. Kevin was dedicated to his profession of pharmacy and practiced his entire 35 year career in Charleston at Revco and then retired from CVS as regional pharmacy supervisor. He was proud to mentor many young pharmacists- two of which being his own two sons- and colleagues, imparting great common sense and wisdom through his philosophy of hard work and integrity.

Intelligent and hard-working as a young pharmacist, Kevin and his partner formulated a very effective diaper rash ointment and soon developed it into a successful business, Flanders, Inc. His family-run company has been selling Flanders Buttocks Ointment since 1986, an accomplishment for which he was extremely proud. He was honored to know that his legacy would continue through the diligent work of his wife, sons and daughter-in-laws.

Kevin was never idle-body or mind, having many hobbies/passions- fishing, hunting, woodworking and collecting fossils and pharmacy memorabilia. In his free time, he enjoyed going to his beloved family farm in Lake City where he meticulously restored an old, dilapidated barn, creating an outdoor retreat that brought family and friends together for much fellowship, fun, and love.

Kevin was active in his church and found great joy as a member of the Grace Courageous Men's Group. He will be remembered as a loving husband, devoted father and grandfather of great wit and humor.

Kevin is survived by his wife of 39 years, Mary Nelle McGuire Floyd; mother, Vera Floyd; two sons, Matthew Kevin Floyd (Brooke) and Jeffrey McGuire Floyd (Louisa); four grandchildren, Braelyn, Mackenzie, Grady, and Carlisle Floyd; sister Gwen F. McElveen and brother James Floyd.

"The family expresses deep gratitude for Roper Hospice, especially the compassionate and loving care of Deedrea and Sharon."

Memorials may be made to "Growing in Grace Fund", c/o Grace United Methodist Church, 1601 Sam Rittenberg Boulevard, Charleston, SC 29407.
