Kenneth Calvin Price, 75, of North Charleston, South Carolina, husband of Dorothy Rentz Price, died Saturday, October 22, 2016. His funeral service will be held Tuesday, October 24, 2016, in J. HENRY STUHR, INC., NORTHWOODS CHAPEL, 2180 Greenridge Road, at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Riverview Memorial Park, 3715 Azalea Drive, North Charleston. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 12:30 p.m. until the time of the service.
Kenney was born April 6, 1941 in Charleston, South Carolina, son of the late John Hugh Price, Sr. and the late Louise West Price. He was a graduate of Chicora High School, attended Clemson University, and served in the United States Air Force. He retired as a Nuclear Planner and Estimator from the Charleston Naval Shipyard. He was a Mason and a member of the Elks Club. He was a member of Riverbluff Church. He also coached playground sports for many years.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Dorothy; his son, Tarver "Ted" Hugh Price (Cheryl) of Shelby, NC; step-daughter, Kathy Lea Katzenberger Morrison (Robert) of Charleston, SC; step-son, Charles Eugene Katzenberger (Tammy) of Edmond, OK; brother, John Price, Jr. (Dana) of Mt. Pleasant, SC; sister, Nancy Hughes (Wallie) of North Charleston, SC; brother, Luther R. Sweat (Diane) of Warner Robins, GA; four grandchildren: Trista Mendez, Thomas Katzenberger, Jonathan Greene, and Chelsea Greene; six great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Marie Lee, and step-mother, Annie Etta Sweat Price.
Kenney was known for his easygoing manner, his honesty, and his love for family. Family and friends often describe him as compassionate and sweet. He will be missed by all who knew him.
