Kenneth Edward Niven, known to those who loved him as Ken, passed away on April 14, 2025, in Sumter, South Carolina, at the age of 70.

Ken was born on January 1, 1955, in Danville, Virginia, to William Niven and Georgia Hayes Niven. A proud veteran, he served 22 years in the United States Navy, with assignments primarily in Florida and Charleston. After retiring from the Navy, he continued his service-oriented career as a facility engineer in Seattle and Dallas.

Ken attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and in his retirement, he found great joy in fishing and spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Patricia Niven; his children, Autumn Stallings, Christopher Niven, and Ryan Niven; his cherished grandchildren, Cierra Stallings, Rylynn Stallings, Wren Niven, and Olive Niven; and his sister, Patricia Crowell. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Niven and Georgia Hayes Niven.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 26, 2025, in the J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. West Ashley Chapel, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway, Charleston, SC 29414.

Ken will be remembered for his quiet strength, devotion to family, and years of dedicated service to his country.
