Kenneth Wilson Leland

Kenneth Wilson Leland, Jr., 89, of Wadmalaw Island died Sunday, June 16, 2013 at the VA Victory House in Walterboro. A Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, June 19, 2013 in the Johns Island Presbyterian Church, 2550 Bohicket Road at 11:00 am. Burial will follow in the Johns Island Presbyterian Churchyard. The family will receive friends in the Church Fellowship Hall immediately following the service.

"Bootsie" was born May 29, 1924 on Johns Island, the son of Kenneth Wilson Leland and Julia Hay Leland. Ken graduated from the University of SC with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He served in the U.S. Army in the Combat Engineers as a First Lieutenant.He was an engineer with Westinghouse Corporation before returning to Wadmalaw to farm with his brother and their father at Leland Farms. Ken was a member of the Rockville Presbyterian Church where he was named elder emeritus.

"Bootsie" was predeceased by his wife Charlotte Coleman Leland. He is survived by his children, Kenneth Wilson (Chip) Leland, III, Robert (Bob) Whitney Leland (Fay), Victoria Denise Leland all of Wadmalaw Island and Pamela Leland McAlhany (Johnny) of Greenwood. His is also survived by his grandchildren, Kenneth Wilson Leland, IV and Robert Castles Leland both of Charleston and John (Jack) William McAlhany, III and Mary (Molly) Charlotte McAlhany both of Greenwood. Surviving also are his brother, Aaron Whitney Leland of Wadmalaw Island and sister, Julia Leland Gervais of Johns Island.
