Kenneth Edward Gernhart

January 3, 1953 — February 5, 2015

Kenneth Edward Gernhart Jr., 62, of Ocala, Florida, husband of Christine Benno Gernhart entered into eternal rest Thursday, February 5, 2015 surrounded by family. His Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, April 17, 2015 at Summerall Chapel, The Citadel, Charleston, SC at 1:00 p.m. Prayers of Final Commendation and Farewell will be held at The Bell Tower, The Citadel, immediately following Mass. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Downtown Chapel.

Kenneth was born January 3, 1953 in Mobile, Alabama, son of the late Kenneth Edward Gernhart Sr. and Elizabeth Gunzelman Gernhart. He was a graduate of The Citadel, Class of 1975 and was a life member of The Citadel Alumni Association. Kenneth spent his career as a management consulting executive living in various cities throughout the United States and had most recently worked for Cap Gemini Ernst & Young.

Kenneth will be remembered by family and friends for his sense of humor and also his kind and generous spirit. He took enjoyment in small pleasures and had an immense love of family.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Christine Benno Gernhart of Ocala, FL; two sisters: Dolores Reynolds (Steve) of Warren, CT and Karen Casseday (Pete) of Port Charlotte, FL; a niece, Lisa Burdick; two nephews: Steve Reynolds, Jr. and Chris Casseday; four great-nieces: Ashley Burdick, Emma Burdick, Claire Burdick and Keira Reynolds; and one great-nephew, Caleb Reynolds.

Memorials may be made to The Citadel Foundation, 171 Moultrie Street, Charleston SC 29409, "In Memory of Kenneth Edward Gernhart Jr, Class of 1975--For the School of Science and Mathematics, Computer Science Department".
