Kenneth Earl Cannon

Kenneth Earl Cannon, 86, of Charleston, South Carolina, entered into eternal rest Thursday, February 27, 2025. His Funeral Service will be held Saturday, March 15, 2025 at Ashley River Baptist Church, 1101 Savannah Highway at 11:30 am. Burial will immediately follow at Live Oak Memorial Gardens for anyone who would like to attend. The family will receive friends and family Friday, March 14, 2025 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Downtown Chapel.

Kenneth was born January 2, 1939 in Williamsburg County, South Carolina, son of the late Crawley Benjaman Cannon and Sarah Ruth Davis Cannon Mixon. Kenneth grew up on the family farm where he loved being outdoors working with his hands alongside his father; he was always curious to figure out how things worked and operated. This is where his love for machinery and engines was born. Kenneth served in the National Guard in the late 1950’s and from there he went on to further his knowledge about engines and electrical work as he put himself through school. Kenneth and his late wife, Carol Savage Cannon, were married in April 1968. They raised their two sons and daughter in Charleston, SC, always living somewhere along the Lowcountry coast. Kenneth loved boats and being out on the water. He went on his first offshore fishing trip when he was in his 30’s and from there he was hooked, always looking to catch the next big Blue Marlin. Kenneth’s passions led him to own his own automotive and marine businesses, working on cars and boats. You could always find him at the marina down on a boat helping someone with an engine problem, or offshore fishing with his family in the SC Governors Cup Fishing Tournaments. Kenneth loved building boats too, either taking something old and making it new or building it from scratch.

Kenneth and Carol enjoyed life in their prime; they could be found kicking their heels up shagging the night away to beach music, spending time with their best friends and family, or doing something with their church. Kenneth was always a gentleman and took pride in providing for his family, while also lending a helping a hand to others. He came from a loving Christian family and in return loved his own family hard, finding joy in seeing them happy. His grandkids were all so special to him and made him smile big each time they walked into the room. Kenneth loved the Lord and although we miss him terribly, we find joy in knowing he is now with his bride in Heaven!

Kenneth is survived by his children: Kenneth E. Cannon Jr., Brian Cannon and his wife Jennie, Nichole Williams and her husband Doug; siblings: Geraldine Blakley, Joan Brown, Ginny Cox, and Larry Cannon; grandchildren: Ashley Dent Corbin, Wayne Dent, Kenneth E. Cannon III, Katie Cannon, Davis Cannon, Oliver Cannon, Brody Williams, and Vera Williams. He was predeceased by his brother, Delos Cannon.
