Katie Beauford Stewart

Katie Beauford Stewart, 103, of Charleston, South Carolina, widow of Thomas Cumming Stewart, Sr. entered into eternal rest Thursday, March 21, 2019. Her Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, March 26, 2019 in J. HENRY STUHR INC., WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway at 2:00 p.m. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service. Inurnment will take place at Bush River Memorial Gardens in Columbia, SC.

Katie was born February 26, 1916 in Abbeville, South Carolina, daughter of the late William Henry Beauford and Allie Bowie Beauford. She was a former owner of a daycare business in Clemson. She was a very loving, talented and unique lady who was full of wisdom. She was a gifted storyteller, enjoyed cross stitch and through the church mission she made many hats for sailors. She was a longtime member of Pierpont Baptist Church now known as Grace on the Ashley Baptist Church.

She is survived by her daughter, Joyce S. Rea and husband Robert of Charleston, SC; son, Dr. Thomas C. Stewart, Jr. and wife Judy of Columbia, SC; brother, Horace Beauford of Lyman, SC; three grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, and many other step-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her brothers and sisters.
