Kathryn Jean Johns, 73, a proud resident of Mt. Pleasant, S.C, entered into eternal rest Tuesday, September 22, 2020. There will be a private memorial for Kathryn in late October on Folly Beach.
She was born October 8, 1946 in Elgin, Illinois, the daughter of the late William and Arlene Johns. She attended Elgin High School. Kathryn was a licensed cosmetologist. She moved to Mt. Pleasant in 1985 and became a vibrant member of the community.
Kathryn was an active member of The Unity Church of Charleston and frequently sang in their choir. She also sang in Mt. Pleasant music jam groups with guitars and ukuleles. An avid exerciser, she was often seen at the Mt. Pleasant Fitness Center and at the Senior Center yoga classes. Kathryn volunteered for many causes including the Pet Helpers Adoption Center on James Island. She was also part of the Bliss Community and The Folly Beach Breakfast Club. Kathryn was a popular face painter in the area and shared her art at the Spoleto Festival over the years and the South Carolina Aquarium. Belly Dancing, Argentine Tango, bicycling, and yoga were her favorite hobbies.
She is survived by her sister, Carol Bradley of Buckhead, Ga. and many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.
A memorial donation may be made in her honor to Pet Helpers Adoption Center, 1447 Folly Rd., Charleston, S.C, 29412.
