Kathleen N. Mincks (Sirback)

March 2, 1916 — October 30, 2011

MINCKS (SIRBACK,) Kathleen N., 95, of Seabrook (Johns) Island, SC, passed away Sun., Oct. 30, 2011. Born in Gallia County, OH, she was the daughter of William E. and Myrtie Shoemaker. She enjoyed entertaining family and friends with stories of life growing up on the farm. At the age of 20 she moved to the "big city" of Columbus, OH where she met and married her beloved George W. Mincks.

A member of the former Burgess Avenue EUB (later known as United Methodist) Church for over 60 years, Kathleen was active in the Alpha Class, women's circle, taught Sunday School and Junior Church and chaperoned youth outings. She was a former member of the Ohio Eastern Star.
A pioneer in home demonstration parties, Kathleen was a representative of Pennywise Plastic Company in the early 1940's. She later became a sales associate of Lazarus Department Store working over 30 years in the Misses Better Sportswear Department.

Retirement was spent in active volunteer service as receptionist at Mt. Carmel Medical Center and usher for cultural events at The Ohio and Palace Theaters. She lived in Lake Wales, FL and Hilliard, OH before moving to South Carolina to live near her daughter and son-in-law.
In addition to her parents, Kathleen was preceded in death by her husband, George W. Mincks; husband, John Sirback; son, Ronald George Mincks; two infant brothers, her brother and "buddy," Noble Shoemaker, and sister, Hazel Sheets.

Kathleen is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Vera Jean and Donald Ruff, of Seabrook (Johns) Island, SC; grandchildren, Kara Jean Trott (Randy Gebhardt) of Powell, OH, Darla Kay Iannarino, of Huntersville, NC; and Richard J. Trott (Erin) of Upper Arlington, OH; sister, Emogene Swain, of Crown City, OH , brother, Clendon Shoemaker, of Patriot, OH, sister-in-law, Evelyn Whitesel of Granville, OH; and sister-in-law, Inez Shoemaker, Akron, OH, eight great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
