Kathleen W. Richards

August 14, 1937 — June 22, 2010

Entered into eternal rest on the morning of June 22, 2010, Kathleen W. Richards, wife of Monroe Richards of Moncks Corner, SC.  The relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. Monroe Richards are invited to attend her memorial service in Pointe North Community Church, Saturday, July 3, 2010, at two o'clock.  Friends may call at the church one hour prior to the service.   Arrangements by J. HENRY STUHR, INC., NORTHWOODS CHAPEL.


Mrs. Richards was born on August 14, 1937 in Columbus, GA the daughter of Alfred DeForest Webb and Sarah Caroline Boutwell Webb.   A member of North Pointe Community Church in Moncks Corner for the past year, Mrs. Richards and her husband had previously been members of Northwood Assembly in North Charleston for the past 36 years.  A tireless advocate for children, Mrs. Richards was commissioned by the Governor of South Carolina to serve as Guardian ad litem.  In this position she represented the children she served in court, always at the appointment of the judge overseeing such cases.  This volunteer work, and her outstanding efforts to best serve the children she represented, earned her Berkeley County's "Volunteer of the Year" award in previous years.


She is survived by her husband, Monroe Richards; son, Steve Richards and his wife Pamela of Mt. Pleasant, SC; daughter, Sandy Hudson and her husband Travis of Goose Creek, SC; seven grandchildren:  Stephanie Adkins and her husband Zach; Candace and Sara Richards; Nathan, Carrie, Cristy and Julie Hudson.   


In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to Berkeley County Guardian ad litem Foundation, 111 Pine Street, Moncks Corner, SC 29461.
