Kathleen Patrice Krieg

Kathleen "Kathie" Krieg, 52, of Mt. Pleasant, SC, passed away on Wednesday, December 8, 2010, after a long battle with ovarian cancer. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in St. Martin of Tours on Wednesday, December 15, 2010 at 9:30 am, and a Memorial Mass will be held at St. Benedict's Catholic Church, Mt. Pleasant, SC at a later date. The family wil receive friends at Massapequa Funeral Home on Monday between 7 and 9 pm and Tuesday between 2 and 4 pm and 7 and 9 pm. Private cremation to follow. Arrangements by J. HENRY STUHR MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL. Kathie was born on September 6, 1958 in New York.  She graduated from Molloy College and earned Masters Degrees in Social Work and Business Administration from Columbia University and Baruch College.  For many years, she worked as the Director of Social Work at Schneider Children's Hospital.  Kathie deeply loved her daughter, Cara, and dedicated her life to her and all those she had served through her work; that love, grace, and dedication will be greatly missed. She is survived by her parents, Robert and Joan Krieg of Mt. Pleasant, SC; a daughter, Cara Krieg of Mt. Pleasant, SC; a brother, Kenneth Krieg of Fremont, CA; a sister, Patricia Kerley and her husband, Kevin, of Mt. Pleasant, SC; along with her nieces and nephews, Sean, Kate and her husband Patrick, Tim, and Kerianne. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Molloy College (Rockville Center, NY) for "The Kathie Krieg Medical Social Work Scholarship Fund," c/o 2215 North Marsh Drive, Mt.
