Katerina Tringi Protopapa, 99, of Charleston, South Carolina, widow of Christos Protopapa entered into eternal rest Tuesday, January 18, 2022. Her Funeral Service will be held Friday, January 21, 2022 in Greek Orthodox Church of the Holy Trinity, 30 Race Street at 12:00 noon. The service will be live streamed and may be viewed at https://youtu.be/vafKTxXh7ig. Interment will be held at a later date in Hendon Cemetery, London, England. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Katerina was born September 9, 1922, daughter of the late Polidorus Tringi and Basilica Mihael Tringi. She attended the Greek Orthodox Church of the Holy Trinity.
Katerina is survived by her daughter, Mara Protopapa Brockbank of Charleston, SC; two sons: Peter Protopapa of Chicago, IL and Michael Paul Protopapa of Charleston, SC; two grandchildren: Matthew Brockbank and Kelsey Lipscomb; and three great-grandchildren: Tabitha Katerina Lipscomb, Gideon Christos Mashader Lipscomb and Sabrina Elizabeth Lipscomb, and a stepdaughter Jessica Gust.
Katerina and Christos raised their children in Kensington, London; she was first and foremost a wife and mother, she was the lady of the house who ensured that everyone was fed, clean clothed and safe. She was active in her church, interested in politics, loved Harrods, cooking, eating and twinsets. She was unassuming, sensible, loving, organized and dressed immaculately.
