Karolyn Hansen Cowden

Karolyn Anna Hansen Cowden, 85, of Mt. Pleasant, SC passed away on Tuesday, June 7, 2011 in a local hospital.  The relatives and friends of Karolyn Anna Cowden are invited to attend her Funeral Service on Friday, June 10, 2011 in J. HENRY STUHR MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL at 6:00 p.m.  The family will receive friends in the Mount Pleasant Chapel on Friday, June 10, 2011 from 5:00 until time of the service. Burial will be on Saturday, June 11, 2011 in Mount Pleasant Memorial Gardens at 10:00 a.m. 

Mrs. Cowden was born on July 26, 1925 in New York, NY, daughter of the late Thorvald Hansen and Nellie Balke Hansen.  She was a Master Gardener and had a great love for quilting, her family, her neighbors and her Lord.  

Surviving are her four sons, Glyn Cowden and his wife, Gwen, Douglas Cowden and his wife, Donna, Bruce Cowden and his wife, Lori, and Miller Cowden, all of Mt. Pleasant, SC and a sister, Thorril Hansen; five grandchildren, Karen, Laney, Casey, Dylan and William and one great grandchild, Evangeline. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the National Alliance on Mental Illness, 3803 N. Fairfax Drive, Suite 100, Arlington, VA  22203.
