Listen to Obituary

Karen Young Paulsen passed away on October 22, 2026. She was born on February 29, 1956, in Charleston, South Carolina.

Karen was a Bridal Consultant, and she brought care and attention to her work. She was a true Southern island girl at heart, full of warmth and spirit. She loved the water and found joy in boating, fishing, and sailing. She was also a Jill of all trades, someone who could do many things and do them well. Social by nature, Karen enjoyed being with others and sharing in the easy rhythms of coastal life, from pluff mud to time spent on the water.

Above all, Karen loved her boys. That love was a defining part of her life and will remain a lasting part of her memory.

She is survived by her three sons: Arthur Lehr (Jess), Adam Lehr, and Austin E. Lehr; daughter, Patricia Hanncock (Christopher); mother, Dolly Lubelsky Young; sister, Nancy Young Fitch (Clarence); brother, Robert E Young, Jr. and three grandchildren: Cara Chandler, Lilly Lehr and Annabelle Lehr.

Family and friends will remember Karen for her lively spirit, her many interests, and the love she gave so freely. Her life reflected the character of the South Carolina coast where she was born, and she will be missed by all who knew her.

A visitation will be held on October 27, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at J Henry Stuhr Mount Pleasant, 1494 Mathis Ferry Road, Mt. Pleasant, SC 29464. The funeral service will follow from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the same location. Burial will take place afterward from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Mt. Pleasant Memorial Gardens, 1308 Mathis Ferry Rd. Mt. Pleasant, SC 29464.
