Karen Ann Klein McGreevy, 57, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, wife of Thomas "Tom" Andrew McGreevy entered into eternal rest Thursday, November 5, 2026. The family will receive friends on Sunday, November 8, 2026 at the J. Henry Stuhr Inc., Mount Pleasant Chapel, 1494 Mathis Ferry Road from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm. Her memorial service will be held at a later date.
Karen was born August 4, 1969 in Long Island, New York, daughter of Laura Ann Hawkins Klein and step-daughter of Bill Overton. From an early age, she demonstrated a heart for service and a passion for helping others, beginning with her involvement with her mom in the Girl Scouts as a young woman. A proud Clemson Tiger, she graduated from Clemson University with a degree in Language and International Trade. Throughout her life, she remained deeply committed to her community, generously giving her time and talents to numerous organizations and projects. She was especially devoted to supporting children and their education, actively participating in her sons’ school activities, serving as a room mother, and volunteering her time in the Reading Recovery Program. Her dedication to encouraging and uplifting young people extended beyond the classroom, as she served as treasurer for Cub Scout Pack 505 and volunteered as a soccer coach with the Mount Pleasant Recreation Department.
Karen’s greatest passion was working with children as a teaching assistant at Lighthouse Christian Learning Center, and later for Charleston County Schools. Whether teaching, cheering from the sidelines, volunteering at school, or lending a helping hand in her community, she approached every opportunity with a generous spirit and a genuine desire to make a difference. Above all, she treasured her role as a mother and took great joy in being involved in her children's and family's lives. Her legacy of love, compassion, and dedication to her family and community will be fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her. She also had a passion for Disney (her “Happy Place”), and shared that with her family many times.
In addition to her husband and mother she is survived by three sons, Andrew McGreevy, Ryan McGreevy, and Brendan McGreevy; step-mother, Mary Lou Klein of Dunnellon, FL;; two sisters, Barbara Zimmerman and Lynn Durocher.
She was preceded in death by her father, Arthur W. Klein, and by siblings: Raymond Klein, William Klein, and Patti Klein.
