Justin Pringle Shealy of Meggett died the night of Sunday, May 13, 2012, at his residence. Justin was born on Easter Sunday, April 11, 1982, in Charleston, South Carolina. Justin, the son of Debra Ann Shealy Pringle was christened at Christ Church, Willtown, Adams Run, where his family had attended for several generations. Justin graduated from Camden Military Academy and while there joined the National Guard. Shortly thereafter, he served in the National Peacekeeping Force in Bosnia as a Combat Medic. He recently joined the United States Army Reserves and he was presently serving in the 413th Chemical Company where he had completed Advanced Biological Chemical and Nuclear training. He worked for Triad Mechanical Contractors and was a very talented carpenter. Anytime anything needed mending around his grandfather's or uncle's house, Justin could handle the job. He loved the outdoors, hunting and fishing. Justin loved all animals, but had a great love for cats. He was excited to recently learn that he qualified to be accepted into the First Families of South Carolina (1670 to 1700) and had taken an interest in his family heritage.
The funeral service will be held Friday, May 18, at 2:00 p.m., at Christ St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 4981 Chapel Road, Meggett, SC 29449. Immediately following the service, a full military burial will be held in the church cemetery, where he will be laid to rest next to his mother. Family and friends will be received Thursday, May 17, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., at J. HENRY STUHR, INC., WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway, Charleston.
Justin is survived by his grandfather, who adopted him and raised him as his own child, Robert Belton Shealy, Sr. and his wife, Lorraine Auerbach Shealy of Meggett; his uncle, who was a strong role model in his life and thought of him as his own son, Robert Belton Shealy, Jr. of Charleston; and two sisters, Lindsay Frances Pringle and her fiancé Chad Winston Pennell of Kitty Hawk, NC and Tanner Louise Kennedy of Charleston. Also surviving are his grandmother, Geri Good and her family of Tampa, Florida and Joseph Jernigan of Charleston, with whom Justin had a special relationship and referred to as his son.
Justin was predeceased by his mother, Debra Shealy Pringle, his grandmothers, Marjorie Roddey Shealy and Peggy Pringle and his grandfather, Dan Good.
