June Wahen Palmer, 80, of Charleston, South Carolina, wife of Col. Albert William Palmer, USAF, (Ret.), entered into eternal rest Saturday, September 30, 2017. Her Funeral Service will be held Saturday, October 7, 2017 in J. HENRY STUHR INC., WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway at 11 a.m. The family will receive friends one hour before the service.
June was born March 19, 1937 in Stamford, Connecticut, daughter of the late John Wahen and Eleanor Ward Wahen. She was a devoted wife, beloved mother, and an accomplished homemaker. June was a graduate of the Parson's School of Design, New York City and generously shared her great talent creating beautiful spaces and designs. She was the wardrobe Madam for the Robert Ivey Ballet Co. and an avid supporter of the arts. June was an active volunteer in her Home Owners Association.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Col. Albert William Palmer, USAF, (Ret.) of Charleston, SC; two daughters, Sheri DeSimone (Doug) of Midlothian, VA, Tracey Carmack of Summerville, SC; three sisters, Paula Szakonyi, Carol Bertrum both of Stamford, CT, and Lois Assiff of Reno, NV; four grandchildren, Ashley Chandler, Michael Carmack, Sophie DeSimone, Katie DeSimone, and great-granddaughter, Emily Carmack. June is predeceased by her son, Michael Palmer.
