Julie Kristen Ballenger,48, passed away peacefully with her mother by her side on November 18, 2022 at Roper Hospice Cottage of Charleston. A private celebration of life for family and close friends will be held at a later date. Arrangements are being handled by J Henry Stuhr, Inc.
 
Born on February 23, 1974 in Greenville, SC, Julie was the daughter of Judy Padgett Ballenger and the late Dr. James Franklin Ballenger. Julie was a 1992 graduate of Hammond School in Columbia, SC where she was a cheerleader for the football and basketball teams. She attended Wofford College and the University of South Carolina and received her Bachelor’s degree from South University. 

Julie had a passion for the arts and enjoyed painting, live music and concerts. She loved to travel and was always planning her next vacation. From an early age Julie was a social butterfly and loved spending time with friends which made her a natural for working in the food & beverage industry where she held various positions throughout her career. 

After spending much of her adult life in Lexington, SC, Julie moved to Charleston in early 2022. 

Julie is survived by her mother, Judy Padgett Ballenger and husband, J. Michael Rogers of Pinehurst, NC; her sister, Kellie Ballenger Bass and husband, Eric of Johns Island, SC; her maternal grandmother, Josephine Padgett of Pinehurst, NC; and four amazing, talented, children whom she regarded as her greatest accomplishment: Joseph Ian Ballenger McAvoy and Skylar McKenzie Ballenger McAvoy, both of Pinehurst, NC and Samantha Ray Anderson and Evan Hayes Anderson, both of Mooresville, NC. 

Memorials may be made to Roper Hospice Cottage of Charleston or Pet Helpers Adoption Center in Charleston, SC.
