Judy S. Smith

Judy S. Smith, 74, of North Charleston, SC, died Sunday, February 21, 2016. Her funeral service will be held Wednesday, February 24, 2016 in the J. HENRY STUHR, INC., NORTHWOODS CHAPEL, 2180 Greenridge Road at 2:00 pm. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour before the service.

Judy was born July 29, 1941 in Charleston, SC, daughter of the late Julius Jasper Singletary. She spent her childhood in Saluda, SC with her Aunt Irene and Uncle Harold McWhorter and graduated Saluda High School in 1960. Judy retired from Westvaco as an administrative assistant. She was a talented seamstress, enjoyed vegetable gardening and was known to have a green thumb with houseplants. She also enjoyed making crafts and shag dancing, and was a former member of the Charleston Shag Club.

She is survived by a son, Greg Smith (Susie) of Mount Pleasant; a daughter, Dana Smith (Timmie) of Goose Creek, SC; six grandchildren: Max, Emma, Elise, Eddie, Christopher and Halley; three sisters: Vyonne "Punkin" Eargle of Columbia, Cheryl Grayson of James Island, and Terri Fender (John) of Summerville; sister-in-law, Maxine Smith of North Charleston; and her dear friend, Glynn Alton Smith. She was preceded in death by two brothers-in-law, Jimmy Eargle and Billy Grayson.
