Judy Ann Cox

February 7, 1949 — January 31, 2011

Judy Ann Cox, 61, of Goose Creek, SC passed away on Monday, January 31, 2011. The relatives and friends of Judy Cox are invited to attend her Funeral Service on Thursday, February 3, 2011 at Sunrise Presbyterian Church, 3222 Middle Street, Sullivan's Island, SC at 3:00 p.m. Burial will be private.  Arrangements by J. HENRY STUHR MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL. The family will receive friends at Sunrise Presbyterian Church immediately after the service.  Judy was born February 7, 1949 in Greenwood, Mississippi.  She was the Director of Resident Patient Services for Island Oaks Living Center and on weekends enjoyed her lifelong passion of cosmetology.  One of Judy's most enduring qualities and passions was her caring for others and always finding a way to give to and help those around her.  She was known as such a gentle and beautiful person, on the inside and out, and was unselfish in all which she did.  For the family, the loss of Judy is so hard, but there is also the joy found in knowing that when she closed her eyes in this life, she was welcomed home in heaven by her son, Robert.  She is survived by her daughter, Penny Padgett Carlson and her husband, Capt. Christopher Carlson of Summerville, SC.  With Penny, Judy shared a relationship which extended far beyond just mother and daughter; they were best friends with a very special bond.  Penny will deeply miss those wonderful times together.  Judy is also survived by her good friend, Jack; many other close friends; and her two cats which she adored, Rosie and Mister Bentley.  She was preceded in death by her son, Robert Howell Bailey.  In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorials be sent to a charity of one's choice.
