Judith "Judy" L. Taska, 68, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, wife of Joseph "Joe" Michael Taska passed away on Thursday, April 24, 2014. The relatives and friends of Judy Taska are invited to attend her Memorial Service on Saturday, May 3, 2014 in J. HENRY STUHR, INC., MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL at 4:00 PM. Interment will be at a later date in Illinois.
Judy was born October 2, 1945 in Herrin, Illinois, daughter of the late Clyde Ernest Long, Jr. and Essie Davie Long. She attended The College of Charleston and Trident Technical College in Charleston. She began her career at MUSC in 1995, and retired from the Department of Surgery - Clinical Sciences at MUSC after 17 years. Her faith was very important to her throughout her life and was an active member of the Episcopal Church for 36 years. She was a member of the Unitarian Church in Charleston and at the same time was active at Unity Church in Charleston and later Mount Pleasant.
She is survived by her husband of 39 years, Joseph "Joe" Taska of Mt. Pleasant, SC; her son, Jason M. Taska of Mount Pleasant, SC; sister, Glenda Gates and her husband, Bill of Elgin, SC and their two children; and her brother, David G. Long of Hampstead, NC.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Judy's name to MUSC Children's Hospital, 18 Bee Street, Charleston, SC 29425, Hospice of Charleston, 4975 Lacross Road, Suite 200, North Charleston, SC 29406 or a charity of one's choice.
