Juanita Barnes Johnson, 97, widow of Edward M. Johnson, of Charleston, SC, entered into eternal rest Wednesday, August 20, 2014. Services and burial will be private. The family will receive friends Friday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in Stuhr's Downtown Chapel, 232 Calhoun St. Arrangements by J. HENRY STUHR, INC.

Juanita was born January 30, 1917 in Chadbourn, NC, daughter of John Willis Barnes and Lee Bullard Barnes. She was a beloved mother and grandmother and was a dear friend to many. She was a member of the Kings Daughters and Sons, the Daughters of the Nile, and a member of the First Baptist Church of Charleston.

She is survived by two daughters, Maxine J. Whitehurst (Gene) of N. Charleston and Sybil J. Weekley of Charleston, SC; three grandsons Walt Weekley (Lori), Ryan Weekley (Jeanne), and Lee Whitehurst (Anita); and 8 great-grandchildren.She was predeceased by her granddaughter, Cheryl Miles.
