Joyce Anne Leberknight Wolff

Joyce Anne Wolff, 82, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, beloved wife for 61 years of the late Robert Paul Wolff, entered into eternal rest Thursday, August 11, 2022, after a long journey with Alzheimer’s disease. Her funeral service will be held Wednesday, August 24, 2022, in J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., Mt. Pleasant Chapel, 1494 Mathis Ferry Rd. at 3:00 pm. The family will receive friends after the service at the Peppler residence 1309 Brickmill East, Mt Pleasant. On Thursday, August 25, 2022, she will be interred next to her husband in M.J. Dolly Cooper Veterans Cemetery, 140 Inway Drive, Anderson SC at 2:00 pm. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., Mt. Pleasant Chapel.

Joyce was born November 19, 1939, in Baltimore, Maryland, daughter of the late Paul Leberknight and Jean Coulter Leberknight. She is survived by her two daughters, Daynna Wolff (Richard Peppler) of Mt. Pleasant, SC, and Dianna Wolff Stugen (Steven Stugen) of Grandy, NC; three grandchildren, Nicole Stugen, Branden Stugen, Danielle Peppler; and three great-grandchildren, Logan Teague, Isabelle Teague, and Aiden Peppler.

Joyce and Bob’s love story reads like a fairy tale. She wrote in her 9th grade diary “Today I met the man I am going to marry.” And four years later at the age of 19, she did. They held onto each other through hard times and good times, and it was a comfort to know that he went before her and was there to take her hand and guide her up to heaven.

Joyce loved Jesus, her family and friends, gardening, singing in the church choir, reading, sunsets, shooting stars, collecting shells on the beach, traveling and dancing. She initially worked as a physician secretary, but found her real joy being the church secretary extraordinaire at several parishes: St Timothy’s Lutheran church in Dundalk, MD, Kitty Hawk United Methodist Church in Kitty Hawk, NC and Elloree United Methodist Church in Ellorree, SC.

Under her quiet demeanor, was an adventurer who was not afraid to hike rock boulders, camp with a bunch of girl scouts, get on a train with a newborn to go to live in El Paso, TX with her army husband, buy a plot of land in a sleepy part of Kitty Hawk, NC and to make her dream of building a house, a reality, handle snakes and spiders, love with abandon. She did not collect acquaintances but had close lifelong friends that she cherished and who cherished her.

Joyce had a charitable heart and supported environmental groups, public radio/TV, churches, missionaries, and many other worthy causes. However, she believed that such things were personal and that individuals should support things that they felt strongly about. Therefore, the family requests that you make donations/memorials in her honor to the charity or worthy cause of your choice.
